Our Lady of Lourdes Family Celebration of the Sacrament of
Reconciliation for Christmas Tuesday 20th December 7.00pm.
Why is it that practicing Catholics are the people who go the Sacrament of Reconciliation and confess their sins? The reason is we are good people trying to better ourselves. We are faithful members of the Church. We are not fair-weather Catholics who practice our religion when we need something.
Living life in the world can be tough going at times. At times it is a bit like sailing in a row boat far out to sea. For centuries people made their living fishing from wooden row boats (for example the Kailis family of Fremantle a hundred years ago). They were sturdy craft and they rose the waves well. They were capable of reaching their destination.
In the sea of life we too are capable of riding the bumps. Our sturdiness comes from our faith. It gives us that inner strength to be able to reach our goals in life. However, just as the fishing boat in times of great storm needs the assistance of a life boat, we too may become so bogged down with bad habits, guilt, doubt and worry that we need a lifeline. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is our lifeline!
It would be great to see the whole Parish family come together, turn out on Tuesday 20th December at 7.00pm and as one body receive the grace of the sacrament. Then we can celebrate the birth of our Saviour Jesus in the Christian manner. Do your best to encourage family members, friends and the relations to join you on this great occasion. Last Christmas attendance at the Sacrament was tremendous. This year will better! There will be 12 priests in attendance. Duration of the ceremony will be 45 minutes.
PS: The SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK will be administered at all Masses on the weekend of 17th & 18th December
